Hi. I’m Johanna.
And this is… well… a bit of a landing place. A soft corner of the internet. A place to exhale.
A little place of weird wilderness.
I started Poetry for Sanity because in an insane world sometimes the only sane choice is to write poetry.
The world gets loud. Life gets messy. Brains get crowded.
And sometimes, the only thing that cuts through the noise is a few lines of something true.
You won’t find perfection here. I write with warts and all, I write with heart and soul.
You’ll find truth.
And softness.
And sometimes a little fire.
It’s poems as life rafts.
Tiny rebellions.
Quiet invitations back to yourself.
You’ll find words here for when your heart is full, and when it’s broken.
For the mornings when hope feels far, and the nights when it sneaks back in, unexpected.
For the moments when you want to scream, and the ones where you just, need to remember you’re still here and magic does indeed exist.
So… welcome.
Stay as long as you like.
Skim. Scroll.
Or sit with the words like a warm cup of something and a magic unfolding.
And if you feel like it—drop a comment, share a poem, let me know what lights your soul with joy.
We’re not meant to do this life thing alone.
With love, words & a little wild magic,
Johanna
Aww @martinmccarthy I have comed to cheerish your posts they are so filled with generosity of spirit and I have discovered quite a few more poets through your posts. You have and are continously helping creating this corner of the world a better place . 🙏🏻 Gratitude
Thank you for introducing yourself. I’m Martin, as you know. My purpose here on Substack is to write poetry also and to make others feel that poetry matters and will endure long after crappy politicians and insane warmongers have vanished - because poetry is, as you say … “a life-raft” … a vessel for carrying the indestructible soul of the world. Nice to meet you once again, my friend!
